A complete step-by-step guide for Mission 9: Operation: Spy & Seek.

1. Talk to Gary the Gadget Guy (G).
2. G instructs you to gather intelligence on Herbert P. Bear and uncover his plans.
3. You are tasked with placing three tracking devices across the island.
   Items to collect from HQ: three tracking devices, yellow duck, and kite plans from the wall.
4. Go to the Ski Lodge.
5. Talk to the two penguins at the Find Four game, they are missing several pieces.
6. Collect missing pieces:
   • First rung of ladder to the Lodge Attic
   • Stool beneath the telephone
   • Windowsill
   • Between chimney and rocking horse (Attic)
   • Table by typewriter (Attic)
   • Table by phonograph (Attic)
   • Crate by lamp (Attic)
   • Crate between couches (Attic)
7. In the Lodge Attic, pick up the piece of string under the rug and add it to your inventory.
8. Return downstairs and give the missing pieces to the penguins.
9. Go to the Forest.
10. Pick up sticks from the snow and add them to your inventory.
11. Go to the Ski Hill.
12. Combine items in your inventory:
    • Place kite plans on sticks.
    • Attach string to complete the kite.
    • Place kite on a tracking device.
    • Install the kite-tracking device on the pole.
13. Go to the Plaza.
14. Talk to two penguins:
    • Red puffle (Ed McCool) demonstrates puffle bowling.
    • Blue puffle (Destructo) is alarmed.
15. Click the gum to free them.
16. Collect the wad of gum into your inventory.
17. Go to the Dock.
18. Talk to the green penguin working on the boat:
    • Pull the wooden handle of the starter cord to start the motor.
    • Borrow the bicycle tire pump; add it to your inventory.
19. Go to the Iceberg.
20. Repair the duck:
    • Attach gum to patch hole.
    • Use the pump to inflate the duck.
    • Click the inflated duck on a transmitter in inventory.
    • Place the duck-transmitter in the water, right of the ice outcropping.
21. Go to the Mine Shack.
22. Talk to the penguin on the roof (Rory) about mine track and cart
23. Fix troughs: click and drag beams so trough tilts left, then pull left side down.
24. Fix mine cart: click tipped-over cart, use welding torch to repair cracks.
25. Place the last transmitter into the cart, then click the cart to send it down the mine.
26. Receive a call from G on your spy phone.
27. Return to HQ and talk to G; he gives you the Binoculars 3000.
28. Add Binoculars 3000 to inventory.
29. Go to the Ski Lodge, go through the Gone Fishing door.
30. Click Binoculars 3000, then click the far side of the ice pond to observe Herbert with Klutzy.
31. G instructs you to attach binoculars to spy phone.
32. Cross the pond, find the perfect tree, and place the combined spy phone/binoculars in the tree.
33. G confirms the device is transmitting.
34. Go back to HQ, talk with G. Watch Herbert’s activities through the surveillance device.
