What are emotes?

Emotes are a fun way to communicate with other penguins. They’re small icons that display a thought, idea or emotion.

Click the smiley face icon on the left side of your tool bar to use emotes. There are even a few hidden emotes. Try pressing the ‘E’ key and one other letter to find them.

How do I use emotes?

Emotes are a lot of fun, and easy to use! And a well used barf face can say more than words ever could…

• To use an emote, click on the smiley face icon on the left side of your tool bar
• Select the emote you would like to use

You can also display emotes using keyboard shortcuts.

I was talking to a penguin and he didn’t say anything back! Why?

There are two reasons why another penguin may not have said anything back to you.

1. If a player is using Ultimate Safe Chat they’ll only see the preset phrases from the Ultimate Safe Chat menu.
2. There is a chance that your phrase was not approved by our filter. In order to ensure that all players have a safe and fun time in Club Penguin, our filters block out potentially inappropriate words and phrases.

How can I talk with other penguins?

It’s easy to introduce yourself to new friends, invite penguins to play a game with you, tell a joke, start a dance party, or announce a party in your igloo.

There are two ways to chat: Use our provided words and phrases, or type your own messages.

• To use provided words and phrases, click the speech bubble icon on the far left of your screen
• To type messages you must be set to Standard Safe Chat
• Start typing in the chat bar
• Word suggestions will appear above the chat bar
• If you see the word you’re looking for, select it
• You can continue typing, and selecting word suggestions until your message is complete
• If the word you want to use doesn’t show up, you can type your own
• Everything will be checked by our filters and moderators to ensure appropriateness
